The Bentley Torcal

Like the Bentayga, Bacalar and Batur before it, the Torcal takes its name from a remarkable natural landmark. El Torcal de Antequera in Andalusia, Spain, is a dramatic limestone landscape of stacked rock formations, cliffs and labyrinths, shaped by nature over millions of years yet continuing to evolve.

The word Torcal is also derived from the Latin “torquere,” meaning to twist, and is the root from which the modern word torque traces its foundation. Torcal therefore also implies effortless progression, another hallmark of every Bentley across the last 107 years.

“Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters, and may just be the most considered car in our history,” says Bentley Chairman and CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser.

The diamond pattern remains one of Bentley’s most enduring design signatures. What started as a functional engineering solution in the 1920s, when wire mesh was used to protect tall radiators from stones and road debris, gradually evolved into one of Bentley’s defining design themes.

In the new Torcal, this heritage is reimagined for a new generation. Bold, sculptural and jewel-like in execution, the floating diamond grille transforms a functional necessity into a captivating design statement, one that is unmistakably Bentley and unlike anything else on the road.

The story continues inside. Working with Cumbria Crystal in England’s Lake District, Bentley’s designers commissioned bespoke hand-cut crystal objects, then captured light passing through them to create the Torcal’s digital displays. The result is a visual signature rich in depth, movement and texture, bringing warmth and humanity to an ultra-modern digital experience.

For more than a century, Bentley has set the standard for interior craft using only the finest materials. Leather and walnut continue to define that heritage, but the Torcal expands the palette with a new generation of materials and textures, each one still sculpted, stitched, polished or assembled by hand.

Among them is a merino wool developed with Fox Brothers, a Somerset cloth maker weaving since the 1700s. The collaboration produced a unique new weave, the first 100 percent merino wool fabric robust enough for automotive use. Soft to the touch and naturally breathable, it brings warmth and authenticity to the Torcal’s modern cabin.

New finishes join it. Brushed alloy with a dynamic three-way brush pattern is a contemporary take on the engine-turned dashboards of the past, while the Ombre veneer layers up to a thousand hand-selected sheets of walnut, pressed together and sliced to less than a millimetre so the tones flow from light to dark. Four new colour pairings complete the story: Dark Teal and Brunel, Hotspur and Cricket Ball, Newmarket Tan and Saddle, and Linen and Portland.
